Ingredients you’ll need for my love heart truffles:

  • Dairy-free white chocolate: Use your favourite vegan friendly white chocolate. I love iChoc Vanilla, Sainsbury’s deliciously Free From White Chocolate and Moo Free White. For my US friends, Enjoy Life Mini Dairy-free White Chocolate Baking Chips are amazing!
  • Golden Oreo cookies: You’ll want to use a plain / vanilla biscuit for this recipe. I opted for golden Oreo’s as they have a delicious sweetness which pairs really well with the sweet white chocolate and creamy cream cheese. Swap them out for a gluten-free biscuit to make this recipe gluten / wheat-free and suitable for Coeliacs.
  • Dairy-free cream cheese: Make sure to use a good quality dairy-free cream cheese. My go-to’s are Violife Original Creamy and supermarkets own branded vegan cream cheese. If situated in the US, Mykonos is great!
  • Freeze dried strawberries: This is optional but adds a delicious flavour to these truffles, perfect for valentines. It also turns the inside of the truffles a pretty pink which pairs gorgeous with the pink chocolate. Alternatively you can use freeze dried raspberries.
  • Food gel: You’ll require 2 shades of colour for the two tone decoration. Use pink to dye the chocolate for coating the truffles and red for adding the decorative wording. I use a vegan friendly food gel, linked here.

Description

How to make my no-bake Vegan Conversation Heart / Love Heart Truffles, with strawberries and dairy-free chocolate. Perfect for gifting over Valentines!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 150g of golden Oreo cookies (or plain / gf biscuits)
  • 40g of freeze dried strawberries (you can use freeze dried raspberries)
  • 60g of vegan / dairy-free cream cheese
  • 200g of dairy-free white chocolate
  • Pink + red food gel

Instructions

  1. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Set aside.
  2. Place the cookies in a mini food processor or blender along with the freeze dried strawberries and whizz up until crumb-like. You could crush them using a rolling pin if you don’t have an electric mixer.
  3. Pour the cookie crumbs into a large mixing bowl & add in the dairy-free cream cheese. Mix together until fully incorporated. The mixture should be sticky and hold it’s shape.
  4. Press the mixture onto the lined baking tray and form into a square (refer to video for example). You want it to be around 1/4 inch thickness. Freeze until firm.
  5. Use a mini heart shaped cooke cutter to chomp out the shapes. Keep chilled while you melt the chocolate.
  6. Place the white chocolate into a bowl on top of a saucepan with boiling water, creating a bain-marie and allow the chocolate to fully melt.  You can also melt the white chocolate in the microwave.
  7. Add a small drop of pink food gel and mix to combine into a light pink shade.
  8. Remove the heart truffles out of the freezer & dunk them in the white chocolate! Balance the truffle on a fork, using a spoon to drizzle over the melted chocolate to coat.  Allow any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. You may wish to repeat this step a few times to get a thick coating of chocolate.
  9. Place the truffles back onto the lined tray and place them into the freezer to set. As the truffles are very cold, the chocolate will set almost immediately so they’ll only need to be in the freezer for around 5 minutes.
  10. Colour left over chocolate with red food gel to make for a darker shade, transfer into a piping bag and snip off a small tip. Alternatively you may wish to melt some fresh white chocolate and colour red as adding another gel could seize the chocolate.
  11. Pipe your ‘love heart’ words ( Love, Hugs, Cute, XOXO) in the middle of each truffle.
  12. Place back into the freezer for 5 minutes for the decorations to set.
  13. Serve and enjoy!
  14. They can be gifted in ‘food grade gift bags‘, perfect for sharing the love over Valentines.

Notes

To store: Store the truffles in an airtight / sealed container in the fridge, and allow to come to room temperature before enjoying.

As they contain cream cheese, make sure they are kept chilled.

Best eaten within 4 days of making.
